Sean + Lauren’s wedding was the perfect balance of elegance and fun, set against the picturesque backdrop of Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas. As their wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture their special day and share their story with the world. Join me as we dive into the details of this Scottish-Texan garden party.
Getting Ready | Line Hotel
The wedding day started at the Line Hotel, where the bride and groom got ready with their respective wedding parties. The bride looked stunning in her Monique Ihuillier gown, and the groom looked dapper in his traditional Scottish kilt. They shared a private first-look and shuttled over to Barr Mansion.
Ceremony | Gardens at Barr Mansion
Upon arriving at Barr Mansion, guests were greeted with a breathtaking garden, lush with greenery and blooms from Forsythia Florals. As the wedding ceremony began, a bagpiper played in honor of the groom’s Scottish heritage, bringing a touch of Scottish magic to the day. They used their vow books that were included in my welcome box, adding a personal touch to their ceremony. When the bride and groom exchanged their vows, surrounded by loved ones, you could feel the pure joy and love radiating from within them. After the ceremony, the couple and guests enjoyed cocktail hour and mingled in the mansion’s lush garden.
As their wedding photographer, I wanted to make sure Sean + Lauren had time to relax and enjoy being with their friends and family. Since the couple opted for first look, the couple got some downtime to chill out and enjoy themselves at cocktail hour. This allowed me to capture some candid moments of them laughing and having fun with their loved ones before taking them away for some fun photos.
Reception | Barr Mansion
The team at Barr Mansion ensured that every detail was perfect. Cody, the events manager at Barr Mansion is the real MVP. The reception was popping with DJ NIXX and guests dancing the night away. The couple’s first dance was breathtaking, as they swirled around under the romantic lights and disco balls. The speeches and toasts were full of laughter and sentimental emotion, capturing the true essence of the couple’s characters individually and as a couple. During the reception, the couple surprised her friend Bird with a birthday shoutout during the private cake-cutting photos. The bride also changed into a flirty dress and sneakers for dancing, which was a great way to let loose and make the most of the dance floor. It was clear that everyone was having a blast, and the joy and love in the air were palpable.
This Scottish-Texan garden wedding was seamlessly combining elegance and fun. From the stunning garden ceremony to the fun surprise bagpipe performance, there was never a dull moment. As their wedding photographer, it was an honor to capture the love and joy of this couple and their special day. If you’re planning a wedding, don’t be afraid to let your personalities and traditions shine through – it’s those special touches that make your day uniquely yours.
