As a portrait and wedding photographer, I’ve learned to embrace the unexpected. Sometimes, the best stories are born from detours and altered plans. And Oscar and Amanda’s Lake Dillon engagement session was a perfect example of that.

They were supposed to be soaking up the sun in Egypt, getting those epic engagement shots with pyramids in the background. But, you know, life had other plans (thanks, 2020!). Instead of feeling bummed, they decided to embrace the change, and let me tell you, it was the best decision ever!

These two are total nature lovers, like, seriously obsessed with hiking and the great outdoors. They were even thinking about tying the knot in Colorado, but realized wedding planning at altitude might be a tad stressful. (Relatable, right?) So, they’re getting married at Elm Pass Woods in Texas, but decided to bring their engagement vibes to the mountains, and I’m so glad they did!

Lake Dillon

We kicked things off at Lake Dillon, and oh my goodness, the views were insane! That crystal-clear water reflecting those majestic mountains? It was like something out of a fairytale. I mean, seriously, could their love story get any more picturesque?

Loveland Pass

Then, we hopped in the car and headed up to Loveland Pass, where the wind was whipping and the views were just… wow. It was so raw and real, just them, their love, and the breathtaking Colorado landscape. We captured some seriously epic moments up there, the kind that make your heart skip a beat.

Sapphire Point Overlook

And of course, we couldn’t miss Sapphire Point Overlook. It was like magic, pure and simple.

Honestly, their whole session was a reminder that sometimes, the best adventures are the ones you don’t plan. Oscar and Amanda’s “everything happens for a reason” attitude? It’s totally contagious!
