The Wayback in Austin holds a special magic especially for wedding photographers like myself. Devin and Julia’s wedding was a perfect example of why I adore this location. From the lush greenery to the golden hour light filtering through the trees, it was a photographer’s dream. And, more importantly, it was a dream come true for Devin and Julia.

First Look + Portraits + Wedding Ceremony at The Wayback
They wanted a romantic and timeless garden party, filled with blues and purples, mirroring the serene beauty of The Wayback itself. I immediately pictured the soft, glowing images we’d capture. And let me tell you, it delivered!

One of the things I really appreciated about Devin and Julia was their focus on enjoying their day. They didn’t want to spend hours away from their guests, but they also valued having a variety of stunning photos. To achieve this, we opted for three short, 10-15 minute photo sessions throughout the day. This was only possible because they chose to do a first look, which I always recommend for couples who want to maximize their time. I was able to capture their genuine reactions and emotions during these brief sessions, ensuring they got to enjoy their day fully.

Beautiful Lighting + Al Fresco Dining
I absolutely loved the way the light played off the trees during our sunset session. The warm, golden hues created a truly magical atmosphere, perfect for capturing their love story. It’s one of the reasons I always recommend The Wayback to couples looking for that perfect Austin backdrop.
Julia’s outfit change was a highlight for me. She swapped her elegant bridal gown for the cutest mid-length dress, perfect for dancing the night away. I loved capturing her carefree spirit and the joy she radiated.
The al-fresco dinner under the string lights was another magical moment. The warm glow created an intimate and romantic setting, perfect for celebrating with family and friends. And their choreographed first dance? It was adorable! I was so thrilled to capture all the beautiful moments of their day.

Their overall wedding theme, “We laughed, we cried, we got jiggy with it,” perfectly encapsulated the joyful and emotional atmosphere of the day. There were tears during the heartfelt ceremony, laughter during the speeches, and plenty of “jiggy” moments on the dance floor!

If you’re looking for a romantic and timeless wedding venue in Austin, I highly recommend The Wayback. And if you’re looking for a photographer who understands the importance of capturing both the big moments and the intimate details, I’d love to chat!
